Outcomes
Work with the PMs & POs to clearly define the vision for the products, who the specific customers are, and what the product's value is for those customers. Work with them to determine the purpose of every project so that the UX is responsible for outcomes, not just output.
The UX team should understand how we:
Increase revenue
Find new customers
Increase customer loyalty & satisfaction
Increase retention
We'll do this by aligning on
Research
Goals & OKRs
Budgets
Vision
Differentiation (Why do people with us and not Walmart or Amazon?)
UX Research & Journey Mapping
Once outcomes are defined, I'll consolidate research and look for opportunities within by examining the customer's journey, pain points, goals, tasks and our competitors. At this stage, we'll determine if the user has a real problem we can solve. Create a problem statement.
Alignment & Prototyping
Create many prototypes addressing the problem statement and work with the business team to ensure alignment with product vision, Objectives, Themes and Expected Results. Decide if the change will create enough value to justice the costs.
Measure successes and failures, iterate and hand off to UX Team.
